British Airports Authority estimates volcano cost it 28 million

The ash cloud that closed UK air space for 6 days cost BAA 28 million in lost revenue. The European commission estimates that the cost to the aviation industry alone will be around the 2 billion mark which on top of the worst recession for 70 years may force some companies over the brink.

Volcanic ash levels never put planes in danger

It is now emerging that the density of ash over UK skies never reached anywhere close to the levels that would have put planes at risk. Samples collected during the 6 day shut down show tolerance of only one seventh of the newly agreed safety level.

At long last Uk airspace was re-opened last night and the first flights started landing and taking off at Heathrow in nearly six days

It has been revealed by a recent survey that passengers are paying exorbitant for food and drink on many low cost carriers.

Volcanic cloud suspends UK airspace

All of the UK and some European airports have been brought to a standstill following a Volcanic eruption in Iceland, the Volcanic cloud produced by the volcano has drifted in strong winds over the UK and has forced all UK airports to either close or ground its flights.

Further BA strikes will continue to affect retailers, hotels, airport operators and airport parking companies.

The strike by BA cabin crew not only affect the airline but also caused BAA to suffer a drop in traffic of 1.5% which translated into passenger numbers is 200,000 with Heathrow the most badly affected. Heathrow lost about 180,000 compared to March last year with the remaining 20,000 affecting Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.

Two women at Liverpool airport were caught trying to fly a dead relative to Germany.

 

Two women were stopped from getting onto an Easyjet flight at Liverpool airport having disguised their already dead relative by using sun glasses and by propping the body up in a wheel chair.The women had already gone through check in but were thwarted because prior to this they had asked for assistance moving their father from a taxi to the waiting wheel chair.

East Midlands Airport to run on Bio-Mass Fuel.

East Midlands Airport has taken the first steps in a plan to become the first Airport in the UK  to produce fuel for its operations.
