Boost for Manchester airport- Inaugral flight for Emirates Airbus
The Airbus A380 the biggest passenger aircraft in the world, will make its first flight from Manchester Airport this year, making it the first regional hub to do so. Emirates are to employ an A380 which can accommodate a staggering 500 passengers on the Dubai route commencing September 1st.

BA take tough stance on travel perks. It has been announced that all cabin and flight crew who chose to join the three day walk out will not be paid for the days that they failed to turn up for their rostas.

Virgin Airways to take England footaball team to South Africa Virgin Atlantic have announced that they are to fly the England world Cup squad out to South Africa for the tournament that begins on June 11th. The players, managers and entourage of support staff will fly to Johannesburg aboard their own Airbus A240-600.
March 15th 2010 Emirates open new lounge at Birmingham airport Emirates Airline the long haul specialist, has opened another lounge at a UK airport, this time at Birmingham International. The flight is twice a day, with Dubai as its destination. Business, First Class and Gold Skywards members, can avail themselves to the fabulous facilities in the 7,000 square foot lounge.

Greener seats for Jet2 out of East Midlands Airport planned for 2010.
Budget airline Jet2 is going to reduce fuel consumption by installing new lighter seats on its aircraft as part of a complete refurbishment of its fleet and to increase flights from East Midlands.
These new routes will increase the airports activity at the height of the season and booking your East Midlands parking beforehand will be a must to guarantee a space especially at the one off airport car park.

British Airways and American Airways announce global alliance
American Airways and BA as expected have decided the best way forward is to cooperate on air fares and their respective schedules as a way to reduce operating costs. The American Department for transportation has already given the go ahead and now it will be the turn of the European competition authorities to have their say.

Elvis anniversary at Prestwick airport
On March 3rd 1960 Elvis Presley who was then 25 landed at Prestwick Airport to refuel his plane.He was returning home after serving two years military service in Germany. Many fans had gathered at the perimeter fence and were ecstatic when he wandered over and greeted them! It was the only occasion that Elvis ever visited Britain.
