Birmingham Airport to unveil £45m ‘International Pier’ passenger terminal

 

A new £45 million passenger terminal at Birmingham International Airport which can hold double the number of passengers will be unveiled next month. The International Pier will replace the old structure in what is the single biggest investment the airport has made in 20 years. The extension of Terminal One means more space for aircraft and new gate lounges for passengers as the airport prepares for longer-term projects such as a new runway.

People aren't willing to give up their holiday abroad this year if they can help it. Instead they are looking for the best value destination that they can find. As the credit crunch bites, people may be cutting back on luxuries, but are not ready to give up their annual holiday

B A celebrates 90 years of commercial flights

 

British Airways is celebrating the 90th anniversary of its first official flight (August 25th). On August 25th, 1919, Air Transport and Travel Ltd - a precursor to British Airways - operated the world's first daily international air service when it flew from London Hounslow Airport to Paris

New Plans for Terminal 2 at Heathrow


Star Alliance airlines will be based under a single terminal at Heathrow under plans unveiled today.The plans show that the work will take place in two phases in an effort to keep passenger disruption to a minimum. The £1 billion new Terminal 2 will become the home for members of the alliance.

London Luton Airport announce new route to Romania.

 

Due to the success of the current services which commenced 01 June 2009, the Romanian based airline Blue Air  will further expand the London Luton Airport winter schedule into Romania with twice weekly services to and from Bacau Airport. Offering low fares and flying a Boeing 737 jet

New Wi-Fi connection at Flybe lounges.

 

Low cost carrier Flybe has announced that customers can now access wireless internet in six of its twelve Airport lounges. BT Openzone has teamed up with the regional airline to provide the service at Belfast City Airport, Birmingham Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Exeter Airport, Gatwick Airport, and Glasgow Airport.

Ba takes steps to counteract losses


The airline posted a £106 million net loss for the three months ending June 30 and is making major cuts in staffing, schedules and salaries. The advertising space will be made available from October 1 and adverts can be exclusively targeted to individual flights and specific demographic groups. BA said more than 500,000 people per day visit its website and last year online boarding passes were issued to around 12 million of the airline’s customers.

A bitter war of words broke out yesterday between Ryanair and Manchester Airport as the budget airline prepared to axe nine of its 10 routes and up to 600 jobs.

Ryan Air Cut Flights At Stansted Airport

 

Ryanair is cutting the number of planes flying out of Stansted Airport  by 40% this winter.   The number of aircraft based at the BAA airport will be reduced from October to 24 from 40 being flown this summer.   This will result in a 30% reduction in the number of weekly flights and a loss of 2.5 million passengers between October and March 2010

New Destinations from Liverpool Airport
