Motorway delays at East Midlands Airport

I have just returned home after taking my mother and father to East Midlands airport and the delays on the M1 are horrendous. The journey from their home usually takes no more than hour, however, because it is a Friday I allowed an extra 15 minutes.

We tried to join the M1 southbound at junction 26 and it took us 10 minutes just to get on the motorway and we then crawled for the next hour until we left at junction 24.

From junctions 25 to 28 there is a road-widening scheme, on each side of the motorway and the build up of traffic is really bad.

For all our customers using East Midlands airport parking facilities or an East Midlands hotel parking package I encourage you to allow plenty of time especially at peak periods.

For those who are wondering, up until this year my father has always used the car park at East Midlands but having passed his eightieth last month he decided it would be easier if I took them.
