Easyjet still taking bookings For East Midlands.

Wrangles over possible staff redundancies have resulted in easyJet being forced to carry on selling tickets on flights from East Midlands that are due to be axed.

For customers looking to book East Midlands airport parking or a East Midlands airport hotel parking package Flypark will refund any payments up to 7 days notice which will allow customers to at least guarantee their space or hotel room.

The no-frills airline announced last week that it was closing its East Midlands base in the New Year, but the pull out is subject to a 90-day consultation period with staff who face redundancy. In order not to prejudice the consultation, easyJet must continue selling tickets.
Though it is guaranteeing all flights up to Christmas and the New Year, passengers who have booked beyond the new year do not know if they will be able to fly, and easyJet says the law prevents it from paying refunds until the end of the consultation period.

Passengers who are booked to fly with EasyJet on flights departing from or arriving at East Midlands during 2009, including the Christmas and New Yew will not be affected unaffected and can fly as per current travel plans.

EasyJet have advised If you are booked to fly with easyJet departing from or arriving at East Midlands after this period, whilst there is a possibility that your flight may be affected, no final decision has been made. easyJet appreciate this may cause passengers some concern, but they would like to assure all their passengers that they will advise them as soon as they have more information. This will be in early December 2009, once the easyJet's consultation with their staff is complete.

Flights from Belfast, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted are wholly unaffected and will operate as nomal. Currently there are no changes to the operation at Luton. Passengers flying in and out of this airport will be advised if their flights are affected.
