East Midlands airport introduces £1 drop off charge!
A £1 drop off charge has been unveiled at East Midlands airport in a new shake up to its airport car parking layout. The £1 charge is for passengers wishing to use the rapid drop-off zone, 1 of the 5 new zones that have been created which include blue badge holders, short stay parking, car hire, valet parking and the rapid drop-off zone.
East Midlands airport manager Penny Coates stressed that the airport was running a free shuttle from its long stay car park and the rapid zone would reduce congestion, something that passengers had complained about in the past.
Though not everyone is convinced the new changes will reduce congestion but rather cause more as passengers queue up to pay the £1 charge.
Other improvements at the airport include an automatic number plate recognition system which will read customers number plate as they arrive and exit the car park and determine if they have pre-booked their East Midlands airport parking which will speed up the parking process. |
