Pay as you go Cars to Speed up Car Hire at Edinburgh Airport

Streetcar, which offers the hire of a range of BMW and VW vehicles on an hourly basis, will soon have  vehicles located at Edinburgh Airport which will enhance links in and around the city for incoming business travellers and tourists.

For ease of access, the vehicles will be located at the airport’s fastTRACK parking facility, which is a minute’s walk from the terminal building.

Brett Akker, Streetcar’s co-founder, commented that the news was excellent for travellers who wished to pick up a car at the airport without all the usual hassle of queuing for ages and having lengthy paperwork to complete. 

Streetcar members from across the UK will be able to fly into Edinburgh and pick up a pre-booked vehicle from the fastTRACK car park with the swipe of a card. It will save people considerable time. Streetcar has become an increasingly popular alternative for those who need occasional use of a vehicle with people attracted to its flexibility, convenience and cost effectiveness.

As well as Edinburgh, the scheme covers 1400 locations across nine other cities; London, Brighton, Cambridge, Southampton, Guildford, Maidstone, Oxford, Bristol and Glasgow. Streetcar plan to provide travellers with a seamless transport system where they can even pick up a car at some train stations and then travel on to the Airport.

 Members may book a car online or over the phone by the hour, day or week, and use smartcards or the company’s iPhone app to unlock the vehicle. For many this will preclude the need for a hire car, and indeed perhaps for many, the need for a private vehicle at all.

Streetcar  will give its clients the freedom to use their cars, by the hour , whenever they need them, but should certainly prove a hit with those travelling to and from the Airport. 

For those travelling out of the airport booking online beforehand will save a considerable amount on their Edinburgh airport parking and guarantee a space.
