Goldtrail collapse heaps misery on UK travellers
British tour operator Goldtrail has gone bust leaving some 16,000 Brits stranded abroad, the news was announced by the Civil Aviation Authority last Friday. The company which specialised in holidays to Greece and Turkey had been in decline with many travel forums buzzing with negative comments about the sub-standard accommodation and poor customer service. The company had also featured on BBC consumer programme watchdog.
Apart from the 16,000 thousand holidaymakers stranded abroad there are another 50,000 who had booked their summer holidays with the doomed tour operator who have now lost their money and will have to fork out twice for their holidays.
Stranded travellers are being flown home via the CAA but all flights home from Turkey are unaffected
Holidaymakers who still have time remaining on their holidays are now being pressured by the hotels who have not been paid for their accommodation. Reports of hotel staff asking for traveller’s passports then charging mass amounts of money for there return, have been surfacing. Other holidaymakers have reported hotel staff being very aggressive.
As not only are holidaymakers out of pocket but all the hotels Goldtrail booked its customers into. If you have booked with Goldtrail and are either stranded abroad you can contact the CAA for more information here 0203 4410846 |
