Credit Crunch starts to bite | Hostel Accommodation from 5 pence per night.

A leading accommodation specialist is to begin offering overnight stays in hostels from just five pence per night.

HostelBookers, which offers rooms in over 100 countries, is offering 250 stays at popular hostels in Barcelona, Valencia, Corfu, Alghero (Sardinia) and Santorini for this price for travel between from July 6 and 10 this year.

Passengers can take advantage of the many budget airlines flying from gatwick. manchester, Heathrow and East Midlands Airports to name but a few.

The cut-price beds, which are being offered as part of the company’s fifth birthday celebrations, can be booked from June 1 to 5, with 50 beds going on sale from 2pm each day.

David Smith, chief operating officer of HostelBookers, said: “We have had a phenomenal five years and experienced unprecedented growth. This is the first time we have run a promotion on this scale but our anniversary felt like the perfect time – it’s a way to say thank you to all our customers, and give a little something back, after all their help over the years.”

The promotion is the latest in a long line of accommodation deals, designed to keep Britons travelling during the economic downturn.
