After nearly 3 years of constant bad news finally some good with BAA reporting that is figures for September were the busiest on record up 7.6 per cent on last year with 6.22 million passengers passing through its 5 terminals.
This increase was fuelled by greater global business activity and some airlines adding previously axed schedules in response to more demand.
Indeed traffic increased by 3.3% at all other BAA controlled airports apart from Stansted which once again failed to beat the previous years figure. Heathrow dominates the business traveller market in the UK whereas Stansted depends for the majority of its business on the holidaymaker.
Clearly it augurs well that business activity is increasing and hopefully this will give the holidaymaker a little more confidence to spend and we are clearly seeing a time lag factor in results for the two airports. |
