Leeds Bradford airport look for expansion into Europe

Leeds Bradford International Airport’s (LBIA) Commercial Director, Tony Hallwood, will be attending the ‘Routes Europe 2009’ conference in Prague this week to promote the region and secure more European routes from LBIA.

The Conference is the largest networking event for the air transport industry in Europe.
Hosted by Prague Airport, the 2009 forum will offer an unrivalled platform for airlines and airports to explore new air service opportunities. Over 650 delegates will attend this year including up 75 airlines and up to 200 airports.
Tony Hallwood will be meeting a key selection of low cost and scheduled service airlines to encourage them to commence vital new business and leisure services. The airport is placing a major focus on attracting routes which will deliver an increasing number of
overseas visitors to Yorkshire by 2010 and enhance inward investment in the local economy.
Key destinations LBIA will be targeting include Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland.
Tony Hallwood, LBIA’s Commercial Director, said: ''With strong support from the business community across the Yorkshire region, we are already stimulating significant interest in what Leeds, Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region can offer to a range of European airlines. We are confident that the first results of our determined efforts in Prague to secure more routes will be announced later this year.
