Award for Manchester Airport.
Passengers flying from Manchester Airport may be interested to learn that it has been awarded the Prestigious carbon Trust Standard.
The Carbon Trust was established in 2001 and the Standard is presented to organisations that are making a conscious effort to manage and reduce their carbon emissions.
Andrew Cornish, marketing director at Manchester Airport, commented: "The money saved from energy efficiency measures feeds back into the business and reduces our operating costs, which is very important in a highly competitive industry like ours, where we are under increasing pressure to lower charges to our customers."
He added that the Standard award is a way of demonstrating to stakeholders and passengers that real progress is being made.
Manchester Airport has committed itself to becoming carbon neutral and hopes to reach this target by 2015.
Meanwhile, those taking flights to Spain from Manchester can travel with airlines including bmibaby and Jet2.
