Emergency chutes used at Manchester Airport
A plane with more than 300 passengers on board has reportedly been evacuated after it overheated as it landed at Manchester airport. According to the BBC News website, the Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777 has just landed at the airport and was taxiing on the runway when the undercarriage oveheated. A spokesman for the airport reportedly said that passengers escaped from the aircraft using emergency chutes, and are currently waiting in the airport. Flight P789 was reportedly en route to Toronto, Canada, and had stopped at Manchester to refuel. Sky News quotes a Manchester police spokesman as saying that a number of people have sustained minor injuries, adding: "The Fire Brigade attended but there was no evidence that a fire actually started, although it is believed overheating may have occurred in the undercarriage " |
