Emirates brings Melbourne and Brisbane closer for North East travellers
2nd February, 2009 – Emirates Airline has today introduced additional flights to Melbourne and Brisbane, providing quicker and more convenient connections for travellers from Newcastle Airport.
The new flights to Melbourne and Brisbane depart from the Emirates’ Dubai hub at 2.30am and 2.45am respectively. These give passengers a comfortable transfer time of around two hours from the airline’s daily flight from Newcastle Airport.
During their short transfer time, they can experience the wide range of amenities at Emirates Terminal 3 – the airline’s new dedicated facility which opened in October 2008. These include a choice of 14 restaurants, a spa, and an extensive array of retail and duty free outlets. Laurie Berryman, Emirates Manager UK North, says: “Australia continues to grow in popularity for our passengers from the North East and we’re delighted to introduce these new connecting flights to Brisbane and Melbourne, making travel easier and quicker than ever before.” With the introduction of these new services, the total travel time from Newcastle to Melbourne drops to just 22 hours 45 minutes, and to Brisbane to 25 hours 35 minutes.
Emirates now offers a total of 63 flights a week from Dubai to Australia, with services to Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne, and onward flights to the New Zealand cities of Auckland and Christchurch. Economy Class flights from Newcastle Airport to Melbourne start from £883 per person, and to Brisbane from £893. Emirates also have regular flights departing from Heathrow, Birmingham Manchester and Gatwick airports. There are more details of flight details on the Emirates' website.
