A one off  unique flight will depart from Newcastle International Airport on Sunday 15 November  with flights costing just £169.95.

Enjoy a fantastic journey through a sky full of stars, distant galaxies and the Milky Way and hear about folklore legends in a quest to see . . . The Northern Lights. Astronomers will guide you on your voyage of exploration and discovery through the crystal-clear winter sky and we hope to see natures very own spectacular light show from the aircraft as we reach the Shetland Isles.

Before the flight there will be an interesting illustrated presentation about the night sky and the Northern Lights by guest astronomers.  The flight will last for about 3 hours.  During the flight, the cabin lights will be dimmed(making the cabin very dark) so passengers can watch the Northern Lights display and they will be asked to rotate seats so that everyone will have a window seat at some stage so everyone will get a maximum view. Astronomers will also be on board, guiding passengers through a star studded sky.  If the conditions are right, it promises to be an unforgettable sight for everyone.

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon it cannot be fully guarantee by the holiday company  that they will take place during the flight, although they have been visible on many previous outings. The intensity and brightness of the Northern Lights can vary from a gentle glow to quite dramatic light effects. Our guest astronomer advises an 80% chance of a sighting. Cabin and aircraft navigation light intensity is at the sole discretion of the captain.
