Virgin Atlantic have announced that they are to fly the England world Cup squad out to South Africa for the tournament that begins on June 11th.
The players, managers and entourage of support staff will fly to Johannesburg aboard their own Airbus A240-600.
The flight will leave Heathrow Airport on June 2nd, with the England manager and his team of 23 players.
This has been seen a coup for Virgin, as BA , who have been used as the Official Airline carrier for the last three competitions, turned down the opportunity saying that the cost involved could not be justified in the present economic climate.
The Football Association has agreed to offset carbon emmissions with the flights involved, and is liaising with the Department of Energy.
Further details will be available prior to the Tournament.
Sir Richard Branson expressed his delight at being chosen as the official carrier, saying that it was an honour to be able to transport the England Squad to Johannesburg.
The passengers will be accommodated in the award winning "upper class suite", where they will be looked after by top class cabin crew.
An extensive selection of food will be on hand at any time during the flight.
Comfort is high on the agenda, with fully reclining beds and individual entertainment consoles, which include flat screen tv's with a huge selection of films.
There is also personal lap top access available and plenty of workspace.
