Heathrow and Scottish Airports See Increased Traffic but Stansted and Southampton in Freefall

Notwithstanding the unrest in the Middle East and Africa BAA has reported good growth for Heathrow and its 3 Scottish airport.

Heathrow was only up 0.5% but excellent gains were seen at Glasgow 3.9%, Edinburgh 5% and Aberdeen 4.9% with European traffic at each airport leading the way.

Unfortunately, Stansted continued on its downward trend loosing another 6% and Southampton a dramatic fall of 13% all of which caused the group to be 0.2% down for February compared to last year.

Stansted woes are blamed on low cost flyers moving to the continent due to cheaper operating costs.
