Comparison Sites Make Life Easier
The internet has profoundly changed the way we both research and purchase products and the travel industry in particular is ideally suited to providing the customer with all sorts of information which they can view at their leisure from their own home.
Indeed, the number of travel agents on the high street is decreasing every day with mergers and consolidations taking place to reduce costs because the onslaught from the internet is ongoing with small suppliers turning to this medium to reach vast global markets which was beyond previously their budgets and know how.
Indeed the problem with the internet is not the lack of information now days but quite the opposite, with customers struggling to sort through the mass of information presented to them.
To give you an example if you were to put in the phrase “Gatwick Parking” google will present you with no less than 1,620,000 results which is kind of mind boggling and clearly the task for the customer is nearly impossible.Imagine going from one site to another making notes on prices, distance from the airport etc, it would take forever.
To overcome this information overload the customer needs to go to a comparison site where they will be able to view numerous options all collated neatly on one or two web pages. Taking the example of Gatwick parking you will be presented with a list of car parks which you can organise in price order.
Thereafter, the page will outline all the information you will require to make an informed selection such as
- Price
- Distance the car park is from the airport
- How you will be transferred to the airport and how long it will take.
- How often the transfers run and between what hours the car park is open? Most are usually 24 hours.
- Security arrangements including whether the car park is approved under the Safer Park Scheme
- Car park location and whether on or off airport
- Meet and Greet service detailing where you would be met and picked up upon your return
It is totally unrealistic to think anyone could possibly collate all this information and come up with anywhere near the same quality of results and presentation.
